Winemaker Notes

A full-bodied style of Greco, with balancing texture and acidity. Ripe apple, poached quince, and fresh quandong (a native red peach) on the nose, with a toasted wattleseed nuttiness on the palate. Pithy and mouthwatering, bold and intense.

The fruit for this 2021 Greco was handpicked, whole-bunch pressed, fermented wild with no acid additions and matured on the lees for 10 months in a combination of seasoned oak puncheons and stainless steel. This is savory and spiced: apples, cardamom, star anise, nutmeg, hints of vanilla pod and Indian incense. The wine finishes tight in the mouth—cleansing and good. This is another impressive wine from Chalmers.

Notes of almond, green apple, lemon curd and apricot are plump and juicy on a medium frame. A hint of raw honey lingers on the finish. Drink now. 175 cases made, 56 cases imported.

A late-ripening, medium-bodied variety from Campania, Greco delivers a relatively high acidity and flaunts an invigorating mineral character alongside fresh citrus, stone fruitand herb flavors. Somm Secret—The name Tufo comes from the soft, volcanic rock found all over in the subsoil of the region where Greco thrives.

Historically some of Australia’s most lucrative gold country, today Heathcote maintains its esteemed reputation as a source of country’s best red wines. The rolling countryside of ancient reddish brown soils bordered by mountain ranges that funnel cool air into the region during the growing season create some of Australia’s most deeply-hued and impressively layered Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon wines.
