    Winemaker Notes

Fruit is foremost: Marasca cherry meets ripe plum in a gutsy,full-bodied package. On the palate there is ample fruit, freshness and quite a bit of body: the tannins are boldbut countered by so much fruit that they attain an almostmocha-vanilla sweetness and come across and smoothon the dense, full body. The finish is warming and rounded,a mouthful of big, fruity exuberance that keeps its mojofor quite a number of years. (A. Krebiehl MW)

Romitòro is an elegant blend of Syrah and Petit Verdot thatexpresses the benefits of a moderate climate such asTuscany’s, where vines grow naturally without needingirrigation and yield an excellent quantity and quality of fruit.

The resulting wine is a bold Super Tuscan that attests to thefact that French varietals can thrive in Tuscany andgive exceptional quality, whilst retaining an undeniablyTuscan character.

This wine is aged for approximately 12 months in oak and isunfiltered.

Since 1984, the Castello Romitorio winery has been committed to the study, exploration and promotion of Brunello di Montalcino wine. This has been possible thanks to the work of Italian artist Sandro Chia, and his bond with Franco Martini, a Brunello di Montalcino expert and the cellar master of Castello Romitorio. This bond now continues between Sandro’s son Filippo and Franco’s son Stefano, the next generation.

The team has an intimate knowledge of the land and an immense respect for local heritage and tradition, which allows Castello Romitorio to express the essence of Brunello di Montalcino. The agricultural practices are low impact and take into consideration the nature that surrounds us. They interact with the indigenous flora and fauna in order to capture and develop the subtle nuances that exist in both the land and the vines they have the privilege to cultivate.

Legendary in Italy for its Renaissance art and striking landscape, Tuscany is also home to many of the country’s best red wines. Sangiovese reigns supreme here, as either the single varietal, or a dominant player, in almost all of Tuscany’s best.

A remarkable Chianti, named for its region of origin, will have a bright acidity, supple tannins and plenty of cherry fruit character. From the hills and valleys surrounding the medieval village of Montalcino, come the distinguished and age-worthy wines based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Earning global acclaim since the 1970s, the Tuscan Blends are composed solely of international grape varieties or a mix of international and Sangiovese. The wine called Vine Nobile di Montepulciano, composed of Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and is recognized both for finesse and power.
