Winemaker Notes

The wine is aged in stainless steel to maintain the true characteristics of the varietal. The result is a crunchy and zesty palate with a lingering aftertaste. Green apple, pink grapefruit and crushed stone dominate the nose while fresh citrus and tropical flavors, together with an elegant mouthfeel, are felt on the palate.

Capable of a vast array of styles, Sauvignon Blanc is a crisp, refreshing variety that equally reflects both terroir and varietal character. Somm Secret—Along with Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc is a proud parent of Cabernet Sauvignon. Literally meaning "the black land," Swartland takes its name from the endangered, indigenous "renosterbos" (translating to rhino bush), which used to be plentiful enough to turn the entire landscape a dark color certain during times of year. The district, attracting some of the most adventurous and least interventionist winemakers, excels in robust and full-bodied reds as well as quality fortified wines.
