About 300 million years ago the Supervulcano of Valsesia exploded erupting material emerged from the depths of the earth. On this substratum, among others, the Novara hills were formed by the deposition of morainic materials derived from the melting of glaciers. It was on this precious land that my father Vittorio and I, Giada, decided in 1996 to plant our first vineyard. We then proceeded to the restoration of the suggestive farmhouse of the 700 in front of the vineyard realizing the vinification cellar, the office and the tasting area in the large porch. At the foot of the spectacular Monte Rosa massif, in the heart of Upper Piedmont between the towns of Bogogno and Romagnano Sesia, in just a few years we have planted about ten hectares of vineyards. Today the philosophy with which we produce our wines is based on the combination of the quality of the grapes grown in respect of our vineyards and the care and attention paid to winemaking. In 2003 we also open the Relais Cà Nova: a guesthouse divided into 8 mini-apartments, all fully equipped and with a kitchenette, located just 200 meters from the estate and from the entrance to the Golf Bogogno.

Attracting the most glory, prestige and fame to the Piedmont region, Nebbiolo in all of its expressions—Barolo, Barbaresco, Roero, Ghemme and Gattinara—creates a complex wine, truly unique for its delicate qualities combined with strength and a great potential to improve over time.

But Nebbiolo isn’t all there is to red wine from Piedmont! Barbera is the most planted variety and historically most popular as a dependable, food-friendly, everyday wine.

Beyond these two, a surprising number of red varieties call Piedmont their home. Worth a try include Dolcetto for its bold concentration and aromas of spice cake. Other grapes to investigate include Freisa, Croatina, Brachetto, Grignolino and Pelaverga.
