James Suckling
A firm red with plenty of tannins that are polished and silky textured. Medium body, fresh and taut. Chocolate and cedar combines nicely with the ripe fruit. Impressive blend of Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. One of best ever from here. Drinkable but better in 2021.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2013 Il Blu is truly an exceptional wine. This blend of 70% Merlot, 25% Sangiovese and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon pours from the bottle with midnight black intensity. The wine is luscious and loud in terms of its aromatic intensity but the effect is beautifully balanced all the while. The wine is streamlined and tight in the mouth but don't underestimate its length and persistence. The finish can be counted in many long heartbeats.
-
Wine Spectator
A rich, opulent version, this delivers black cherry, black currant, plum and cedar flavors, with good intensity and concentration. The lively fruit is shaded by tobacco, iron and wild herbs, and this is less showy than either 2010 or 2006 now, yet there's fine potential, with some tannins still to resolve.

Founded by Swiss couple Brigitte and Bruno Widmer in the famed hillsides of Tuscany more than 30 years ago, Brancaia is the modern face of luxury Italian wine. Rooted in the bold Super Tuscan movement that forever changed Italy’s winemaking culture, the wines of Brancaia blend classic Italian grapes with international varieties, bringing a decidedly modern touch to a centuries-old wine region.
Today the winery is still family owned and operated, led by the Widmers’ daughter, winemaker Barbara Widmer. Barbara has excelled at perfecting the style and quality of Brancaia wines by producing elegant, complex wines with a strong Tuscan identity.

Legendary in Italy for its Renaissance art and striking landscape, Tuscany is also home to many of the country’s best red wines. Sangiovese reigns supreme here, as either the single varietal, or a dominant player, in almost all of Tuscany’s best.
A remarkable Chianti, named for its region of origin, will have a bright acidity, supple tannins and plenty of cherry fruit character. From the hills and valleys surrounding the medieval village of Montalcino, come the distinguished and age-worthy wines based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Earning global acclaim since the 1970s, the Tuscan Blends are composed solely of international grape varieties or a mix of international and Sangiovese. The wine called Vine Nobile di Montepulciano, composed of Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and is recognized both for finesse and power.
