Winemaker Notes
The light gold-colored Albarin displays an alluring perfume of lemon, apricot, and jasmine along with minerality. On the palate it shows high acidity, paired seamlessly with the fruit. The volume, texture and lengthy of the finish are outstanding.
There are hundreds of white grape varieties grown throughout the world. Some are indigenous specialties capable of producing excellent single varietal wines. Each has its own distinct viticultural characteristics, as well as aroma and flavor profiles.
One of the few northwestern Spanish regions with a focus on a red variety, Bierzo, part of Castilla y León, is home to the flowery and fruity Mencia grape. Mencia produces balanced and bright red wines full of strawberry, raspberry, pomegranate, baking spice, pepper and black licorice. The well-drained soils of Bierzo are slate and granite.
