Winemaker Notes
The wine displays a pale yellow hue, indicative of its freshness and youth. This wine offers a complex aromatic profile, characterized by abundant smoky and toasty notes. These aromas are attributed to oak aging and the influence of lees, distinguishing it from other Ponce whites with its more layered and sophisticated bouquet. On the palate, the wine is both saline and complex, featuring generous notes of citrus and stone fruits. Its remarkable texture provides a rich mouthfeel that enhances the overall tasting experience.
There are hundreds of white grape varieties grown throughout the world. Some are indigenous specialties capable of producing excellent single varietal wines. Each has its own distinct viticultural characteristics, as well as aroma and flavor profiles.
The Moors gave it the name, ‘Manxa,’ which fittingly means ‘parched earth.’ La Mancha, the largest Spanish wine producing region in all of Spain, is one of its hottest and driest. Sturdy and drought-resistant white varieietes like Airen, Viura and Verdejo thrive in this environment.
