Bodegas Lan Rioja Edicion Limitada 2003
Tasting notes: Intense and bright cherry color. Noticeable ripe fruit nose, with hints of ripe red fruit. Spicy, roasted and balsamic aromas and memories of mineral notes. Tasty on the mouth, it is wide and complex in its ripen and sweet tannins. It leaves a long and lingering finish that shows the great personality of this wine.
Serving suggestions: Stews, game and meat, as well as cured cheese.
"Powerful yet graceful, this rich, ripe red delivers blackberry and currant fruit framed by coffee and toasty oak notes. Though thick on the palate, it remains fresh and focused, and the finish is clean and sweet, with floral and mineral grace notes. Drink now through 2012."
Hailed as the star red variety in Spain’s most celebrated wine region, Tempranillo from Rioja, or simply labeled, “Rioja,” produces elegant wines with complex notes of red and black fruit, crushed rock, leather, toast and tobacco, whose best examples are fully capable of decades of improvement in the cellar.
Rioja wines are typically a blend of fruit from its three sub-regions: Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Oriental, although specific sub-region (zonas), village (municipios) and vineyard (viñedo singular) wines can now be labeled. Rioja Alta and Alavesa, at the highest elevations, are considered to be the source of the brightest, most elegant fruit, while grapes from the warmer and drier, Rioja Oriental, produce wines with deep color, great body and richness.
