Winemaker Notes
LZ is a tribute to the village grape growers of the 1920's. A wine fermented in small concrete tanks with selected grapes from their organic vineyards in the village of Lanziego. With LZ, they want to keep alive that memory of taste.

Vinous
The 2022 LZ is a blend of Tempranillo, Graciano and Garnacha from Lanciego, Rioja Alavesa. It displays a purple hue in the glass. The fruit-forward aromas showcase cherry and blackberry notes in a reductive profile, complemented by hints of blood and earthy tones. Dry, creamy and overwhelming, the fine, reactive tannins contribute texture to the lasting fruity finish.

An elegant red, with good focus. The silky texture carries a lovely range of pureed black cherry, strawberry pate de fruit and dried violet notes, with a savory underpinning of milled white pepper, mint and mineral elements. Drink now through 2030. 5,400 cases made.
Hailed as the star red variety in Spain’s most celebrated wine region, Tempranillo from Rioja, or simply labeled, “Rioja,” produces elegant wines with complex notes of red and black fruit, crushed rock, leather, toast and tobacco, whose best examples are fully capable of decades of improvement in the cellar.
Rioja wines are typically a blend of fruit from its three sub-regions: Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Oriental, although specific sub-region (zonas), village (municipios) and vineyard (viñedo singular) wines can now be labeled. Rioja Alta and Alavesa, at the highest elevations, are considered to be the source of the brightest, most elegant fruit, while grapes from the warmer and drier, Rioja Oriental, produce wines with deep color, great body and richness.
