Distiller Notes
The second offering from Batiste Rhum, Gold starts as the same distinctively versatile sugar cane juice rhum as Silver, but is aged in Napa, California for up to 6 months in charred American rye whiskey barrels. The activated charcoal in the barrels acts as a purifier for this already exceptionally clean rhum, while the rye lends spice and vanilla notes. Nothing else is added, so the color is light as is the mouthfeel.
Slightly smokey with hints of vanilla & white pepper, Batiste Gold has a bright, silky texture with a lingering, smooth finish and appeals to cocktail lovers who enjoy the flavor of whiskey. Enjoyable on the rocks or in an Old Fashioned, but like its Silver cousin it's also easily enjoyed with fresh juices, soda water, and kombuchas. As with all Batiste products, sustainably made and eco-positive.
From pirate life on the open sea to Caribbean island paradises, perhaps no other spirit evokes such a romantic history as Rum. Made through fermentation and distillation of molasses or the fresh-pressed juice of sugar cane, Rums range from 20% to over 70% alcohol and come in a variety of tones from clear to dark. Highest quality Rums are generally produced in pot stills and aged in wood, while less expensive Clear or “White” Rums are produced in column stills and bottled without barrel aging. Naturally, Rums form the base of tropical cocktails like Daquiris and Mojitos.
