Bacardi 8 Year Reserva Ocho Rum
2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition Gold Medal Winner
Created in 1862, Bacardi Reserva Ocho rum is one of the oldest private rum blends in the world. For seven generations, the Bacardí family enjoyed it as their personal reserve. Happily, today everyone can enjoy this golden sipping rum and create special moments together. Expertly blended by Maestros de Ron Bacardi for extraordinary character and aged in American White Oak barrels and filtered through charcoal for a smooth finish. A true 8-year-old barrel-aged rum for uncompromising quality, with a smooth taste that rivals that of cognacs and older scotches.
Bacardi Reserva Ocho rum boasts warming notes of butterscotch, nutmeg and dried apricots. Longer aging brings out additional complexity of flavors from the barrel and develops a rich body with velvety smoothness. Rich mahogany in hue.
On February 4, 1862 Bacardi y Compañía was established. Its products would soon delight kings, connoisseurs, and independent thinkers the world over. By raising the quality of the product and, as a result, the quality of its image, Bacardi created a new type of rum. The family's creations, Bacardi rums, the world's original premium smooth and mellow rums, continue to set new standards by which all rums are measured, from that day in 1862, and forever more.
Often referred to as a Gold Rum, an Aged Rum is one that has been aged in barrels, often Ex-Bourbon or White Oak before bottling. As the Rum continues to age, it draws more and more color and flavor from the wood, adding both body and complexity to the finished product. Aged Rums can be sipped neat or added to cocktails. They fall somewhere in between White and Dark Rums in terms of their respective strength of flavor.
