Somm Note

Winemaker Notes

This superb Malbec is deep purple, with powerful aromas of red berries and floral notes. Flavors of plum and sweet blackberry. Finish of ripe, balanced tannins.

The best accompaniment to a Malbec wine are dishes including roasted red meat, pasta with red sauces and mature cheese with a complex flavor. Malbec wines are also great with typical Argentinian cuisines such as meat empanadas and stews.

Rich and robust, with sink-your-teeth-into-them flavors of red currant, roasted plum and cherry tart. Shows notes of hot stone midpalate, with accents of white berry on the fresh finish. Drink now through 2020.

Argento Winery Video

Deeply rooted in the soils of Mendoza, crafted with the spirit of Argentina, and shared with the world, Argento embodies the essence of modern Argentina. The story is simple – the winery is intrinsically entwined with its country of origin. When you drink Argento's wines, you experience the real Argentina.

In 1998, the team recognized an opportunity to unlock the extraordinary potential of Malbec. The winemakers set out with the goal of revealing its vibrant, velvety character and the intense flavors of Malbec grown at the foothills of the Andes.

Following on from their original Malbec vision, the team now also produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Bonarda, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and more. Argento is very proud of its country’s winemaking heritage and the unique terroir of Mendoza, and the team is dedicated to crafting wines that emphasize the hallmarks of the Argento style – fruit purity, vibrancy and elegance.

Whether you are drinking Argento in Buenos Aires, New York, London or Tokyo, you’ll taste all that there is to love about Argentina.

Most distinguished and celebrated from Argentina’s Mendoza, Malbec has seen runaway success since the early 2000s. Mendoza’s agreeable, continental climate with hot, dry summers and cold snowy winters allows the perfect conditions for growing outstanding Malbec. This grape is easy to like for its lusty, deep flavors and aromas of blackberry, plum, red cherry, autumn spice and tilled earth. It’s easy to find delicious, fruit-driven, affordable everyday examples and in prices beyond, quite exceptional ones with dense, supple textures that make them capable of aging.
