Winemaker Notes
Bringing together the best of both worlds from our Attelas and Edcora estate vineyards. On the nose, gorgeous aromas of ripe blackberry and sweet black cherry mingle with notes of cola, anise, dark chocolate, and sandalwood. The voluptuous dark fruit continues on the palate, where rich, mouth-filling tannins add depth and nuance to layers of berry compote, graphite, and minerality while carrying the wines to a long, lush finish.

This sports a grippy charcoal feel along the edges, with dark currant and fig paste flavors at the core. Espresso and baker's chocolate notes fill in on the dark finish. A square-jawed wine that should hold in place for a bit.

Made from 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Merlot, this is an herbal and smoky wine, earthy in sage and flint. Thick leathery tannins grip the palate with force as a touch of cherry and vanilla wind around a deep lasting finish.
A noble variety bestowed with both power and concentration, Cabernet Sauvignon enjoys success all over the globe, its best examples showing potential to age beautifully for decades. Cabernet Sauvignon flourishes in Bordeaux's Medoc where it is often blended with Merlot and smaller amounts of some combination of Cabernet Franc, Malbecand Petit Verdot. In the Napa Valley, ‘Cab’ is responsible for some of the world’s most prestigious, age-worthy and sought-after “cult” wines. Somm Secret—DNA profiling in 1997 revealed that Cabernet Sauvignon was born from a spontaneous crossing of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc in 17th century southwest France.
Just northeast of Napa city, Atlas Peak boasts some of Napa Valley’s highest elevation vineyards. Here the intense sunlight coupled with cool, nighttime temperatures produce grapes that are perfectly ripe, balanced and concentrated. The appellation is rich in volcanic soils and excels in the production of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
