When I started my study of wine in 1970, it was all about French wine, especially Burgundy. My first glass of great wine was given to me by a customer (now a close friend) at the restaurant where I worked. It was a 1945 Grand Cru! Burgundy's reputation for winemaking dates as far back as 51 B.C. Bourgogne is where you start to understand the Pinot Noir grape with its lightness, bright acidity, low tannins, and complex flavors. Then you move on to the specific villages.... In this class we will taste and discuss the red wines of the Côte d'Or, two from the Côte de Beaune and two from the Côte de Nuits, all from some of the great producers. Robin Kelley O'Connor, the world-renowned wine expert and our producer, Alison Van de Berghe, will join Kevin on all classes. The cost of this class is $100 per household (no refunds on class fee); the wine cost is $299.99 if purchased through Wine.com. About Kevin Zraly
Kevin Zraly has built an impressive wine and restaurant career over the past five decades. He was the Cellar Master and Wine Director of Windows on the World Restaurant atop One World Trade Center from 1976 – 2001. He is the founder and instructor of the Windows on the World Wine School that has graduated over 20,000 students to date. Kevin is the author of eight books, including the largest selling wine book in the United States, Kevin Zraly's Windows on the World Complete Wine Course, (4 million copies). Kevin is the recipient of the 2011 James Beard Lifetime Achievement Award and is a member of the Board of Trustees at the Culinary Institute of America. He is also the recipient of the Wine Literary Award (2006), and the European Wine Council Lifetime Achievement Award (2002).
