Playful royal purple, with cool-climate Malbec tones alternating plums, boysenberry and huckleberry with floral notes of lavender and violet. The palate is round and silky with bright acidity and powdery tannins delivering lavish black cherry and milk chocolate flavors.

Professional Ratings

Focused, with refined notes of slate and white pepper to the cherry and plum flavors. Lip-smacking juiciness fills the finish, accented by lively spice and mineral details.
  • 88
Jammy, reduced aromas of cassis, blueberry and animal hide lead to a juicy, fresh palate that’s not too thick or concentrated. Blackberry and blueberry flavors are lightly peppered, while the finish is quick and light for Malbec. This is a new wine that aims at freshness and simple fruit more than power and weight.

Most distinguished and celebrated from Argentina’s Mendoza, Malbec has seen runaway success since the early 2000s. Mendoza’s agreeable, continental climate with hot, dry summers and cold snowy winters allows the perfect conditions for growing outstanding Malbec. This grape is easy to like for its lusty, deep flavors and aromas of blackberry, plum, red cherry, autumn spice and tilled earth. It’s easy to find delicious, fruit-driven, affordable everyday examples and in prices beyond, quite exceptional ones with dense, supple textures that make them capable of aging.
