Winemaker Notes
A subtle, cooling nose of mint gives way to a salty sea breeze salinity. The body is somewhat oily like Pinot Blanc but with refreshing brightness and acidity. Flavors of Bosc pear and lime zest with a touch of green tea underneath. The brininess, aromatics and body of this wine make for a perfect pairing with seafood and shellfish.
Try with ceviche and white flaky fish as well as grilled vegetables. It's also a perfect patio sipper.
A fantastic, aromatic white grape that grows with great success in Sardinia, Tuscany and in lesser proportions on the island of Corsica. Somm Secret—Vermentino is thought to be genetically identical to Liguria’s Pigato grape and Peidmont’s Favorita. It comprises a large proportion of the whites in southern France where it is called Rolle.
Today it is an integral part of the greater Santa Barbara County wine region, but at one time the village, Los Olivos, was a stop on the Wells Fargo stagecoach line.
