Winemaker Notes

This is a wine of great immediacy, with an intense purple appearance. The olfactory profile is dominated by Syrah and Sangiovese, marasca cherry and mammola violet. The tannin is light. The finish is long, leaving the palate dry and round.

Excellent with aperitivo and pasta dishes. It also matches well white or red meat dishes, cooked or grilled.

Professional Ratings

Another spicy, nutty red from this producer with dried lavender, lemon peel, underbrush and cedar. Medium to full body, grainy tannins and a medium-chewy finish. Drink now. Made from organically grown grapes.

Aromas of truffle, smoke, leather and wild berry take center stage. Boasting an earthy elegance, the medium-bodied palate offers dried cherry, cranberry, star anise and a hint of game set against grainy tannins that leave a firm, drying finish. It's still rather austere and needs a few more years to unwind. Drink 2021–2027.

Legendary in Italy for its Renaissance art and striking landscape, Tuscany is also home to many of the country’s best red wines. Sangiovese reigns supreme here, as either the single varietal, or a dominant player, in almost all of Tuscany’s best.

A remarkable Chianti, named for its region of origin, will have a bright acidity, supple tannins and plenty of cherry fruit character. From the hills and valleys surrounding the medieval village of Montalcino, come the distinguished and age-worthy wines based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Earning global acclaim since the 1970s, the Tuscan Blends are composed solely of international grape varieties or a mix of international and Sangiovese. The wine called Vine Nobile di Montepulciano, composed of Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and is recognized both for finesse and power.
