Winemaker Notes
The Stevenot Sierra Foothill Chardonnay has been the benchmark for Sierra Foothill Chardonnays for many years, and the 2000 vintage is a good example of the quality of fruit grown in the cooler areas of the region. A majority of the blend was barrel fermented in new Seguin Moreau and Nadalie American Oak Barrels. This was blended with the balance that was cool fermented in stainless steel to retain the great Chardonnay fruit flavors or the "Vineyard Footprint". Only 20% of the blend went through malo-lactic fermentation, resulting in a wine with very defined structure and finish.
