who we are

Welcome to Wine.com, the #1 online wine store since 1998.

Our mission is to make it fun, easy and risk-free for you to discover great new wines from all over the world, whether shopping for yourself or sending a gift.

It starts with our wine list. Our sommeliers scour the globe to be able to present you with thousands of the highest quality wines representing all varietals and regions. A list we’re particularly proud of is our “90+ point rated wines for under $20.” This brings you the highest rated wines (according to independent wine critics such as Wine Spectator and Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate) at affordable prices. Our sales figures tell us our customers appreciate this feature, which can be sorted by popularity based on our sales over the last 30 days, or by price, region or varietal. And for the real connoisseurs out there, we’ve got our list of 94+ point rated wines which can make impressive gifts or additions to your cellar.

But providing you an extensive wine list is not enough. At Wine.com, we believe the more you know about your wine, the more you’ll enjoy it. It’s not just a bottle of juice – all of our wines have people and stories behind them, and come from some very special parts of the world. That’s why each of our wines is accompanied by notes from the winemaker, and links to information about the winery and the region it’s in. Customer reviews and our top seller lists help you see what other members of the Wine.com community are enjoying. And you can participate too, by writing your own reviews and using our “email this wine to a friend” feature.

Ever had a great bottle of wine but later forgotten what it was? Us too! Our new printer-friendly Cellar Notes enable you to capture each wine’s ratings, price and winemaker notes on paper for future reference. Each bottle we ship now comes with a Bottle Tag, which hangs from the bottle neck, displaying name, vintage, price (unless it’s a gift), rating and date purchased. You’ll never mistakenly drink the $100 bottle with pizza again!

In addition to wine, we’re proud to offer you an extensive assortment of gourmet food and wine gift baskets. Through our acquisition of AKA Gourmet in 2003, we’ve got nearly 20 years of experience manufacturing and marketing gift baskets. It’s a labor intensive process that many companies outsource, but not us. We do it all ourselves and tie each individual bow by hand. That’s the only way we can guarantee the quality you expect from Wine.com and create a lasting impression with your gift recipient. It’s also why over 30 other retailers, such as FTD and 1-800-Flowers, rely on us for their gift baskets.

Looking for gifts for your clients and business associates? Wine makes a great business gift, and our corporate sales team can help you upload your address book to conveniently ship to multiple recipients. And you can specify a future ship date if you like.

Finally, a word about shipping. As you may know, there are many laws and regulations regarding the shipment of wine across state lines, including the law that requires an adult signature to receive a package (many customers ship to their work address to ensure an adult is available to sign). We currently ship wine to 26 states accounting for 75% of the U.S. population through our network of 10 licensed retail outlets across the country. Because of our many shipping locations, our wine spends less time on trucks and we often surprise our customers with how quickly their orders arrive. For the remaining 25% of you, we can ship gourmet food and sweets gift baskets. We’ll keep working to expand this as state laws allow!

Thank you for your interest in Wine.com. Our customers have relied on us for millions of bottles of wine over the years. We’ll continue introducing new products, information and features to help you find more new wines you’ll love!

Sincerely,

Rich Bergsund

Kosher wine
Kosher
A Kosher wine begins like every other - as grapes on a vine. Once they reach the winery for crushing, the wine is under strict rabbinal supervision.

Screw Cap wine
Screw Cap
Many studies report and winemakers agree that screw caps protect wine better and preserve its flavor more effectively than cork. More importantly, screw caps eliminate cork taint caused by TCA, a compound which develops in a small percentage of corks and ruins the taste of wine.

Organically grown grapes
Organically Grown Grapes
These wines are made from organically grown grapes from vineyards dedicated to sustainable farming.

Collectible wine
Collectible
These wines will improve from additional bottle age, when properly stored, and may show the greatest potential to increase in value.

Great Wine Gifts
Great Wine Gifts
These selected wines make impressionable gifts for wine enthusiasts and oenophiles alike.

About Professional Ratings
These wine ratings are based on a 100-point quality scale, and are selected by each publication's unique criteria. Some wine ratings are expressed as ranges. When this occurs we will list the highest score in the range and note the full range within the tasting note.

While ratings may influence your decision, the ultimate judgment is your palate.
