The 2009 Ridge York Creek Zinfandel displays a cherry/plum nose with accents of fig and mint. Dark fruit flavors on the palate. This vintage has a full, tannic structure, firm acidity, a nicely-rounded finish.
Blend: 93% Zinfandel and 7% Petite Sirah
"Like most Ridge Zinfandels, this one places a premium on structure and balance, but it is in all ways a bigger, gutsier wine that its partner from Lytton Springs, and it shows a lot of raw young power. Although it is presently roughed up by fairly evident tannins and shows the sturdiness of a mountain-grown wine, it is charged with lots of pure berry-like fruit that survives its finishing astringency. Enjoy it now if you must with rustic stews, but know that it will not reach its peak for a good many years."

Connoisseurs' Guide
"Opaque violet color. An intensely perfumed bouquet displays dark berry preserves, cherry-cola, vanilla and woodsmoke. Lush, palate-coating blackberry and boysenberry flavors are complicated by notes of licorice and candied violet. Shows very good intensity on the gently tannic finish, which clings with noteworthy tenacity."
