Winemaker Notes

The 1997 vintage of this wine was ranked #3 on the Wine Spectator's Top 10 Wines of 2000

92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Malbec, 4% Petit Verdot. The 2007 vintage is a big, ripe cabernet sauvignon. It balances the deep flavors of cassis, blackberry and raspberry with the chewy, ripe tannins and sweet toasty oak. The Malbec and Petit Verdot were added to the blend for complexity and flavor nuances. This is a wine to enjoy through 2022.

Wine Enthusiast
Made in the modern style of extreme ripeness, softness and deliciousness. Really captivates for its wealth of cherry and raspberry jam, ripe blackberry tart and oak-inspired vanilla and butterscotch flavors. Hard to predict where it’s going due to the softness, but it’s sure tasty now.
WS 92
Wine Spectator
A wonderful mix of spicy wild berry, black currant, sage and mineral flavors. Full-bodied and slow to unfold, but expansive, gaining depth and richness on the finish, with a grainy, minerally aftertaste. Drink now through 2019.

Whitehall Lane Winery, Napa Valley, California
2007 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
We are a small, family owned winery in Napa Valley's historic Rutherford appellation. We own approximately 110 acres of prime Valley-floor vineyards including the Leonardini Vineyard in St. Helena and are committed to making the finest Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Reserve wine.

The winery continues to receive accolades and awards for producing some of the greatest wines in the world. In Wine Spectator's year-end ranking of wines, Whitehall Lane has been honored an unprecedented three times in five years for producing wines rated among the top five in the world. The winery has also been voted Winery of the Year from the Quarterly Review of Wines and Wine and Spirits Magazine.

In our short history, Whitehall Lane has developed into a world-class winery. The efforts of the Leonardini Family are evident in the recent run of accolades from wine publications but are even more apparent in the beautifully made, elegant wines we continue to make.

The Napa Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon are so intrinsically linked that it is difficult to discuss one without thinking of the other. Although Cabernet has many important outposts throughout the wine world, nowhere else has it achieved such success (and, at the highest end, commanded such lofty prices) than in Napa. Here, it is responsible for bold, opulent, and dark-fruited wines with grippy tannins and a healthy dose of alcohol. The best examples can age for decades. Each of Napa’s smaller sub-AVAs imparts a different character to Cabernet, such as Rutherford’s famous dust or Stags Leap District's tart cherry flavors.
