Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The Library vineyard was planted between 1880 and 1920 to several varieties including Cinsault, Syrah, Mission, Alicante Bouschet, Carignane, Grenache, Zinfandel, Muscat of Alexandria, Muscadelle and others (there are 24 varieties in total), all intermixed in the vineyard. The grapes are all picked at the same time and vinified together. Very deep opaque purple-black in color, the 2017 Petite Syrah Library Vineyard has a very savory nose of dried mushroom, toasted coconut, bacon fat, dried lilac and violets over a dense black fruit core with notes of black cherry and blackcurrant liqueur. Full-bodied and huge in the mouth, the singular palate is very savory, with an absolutely indestructible black and blue fruit core plus touches of perfume and earth, framed by very firm, chewy tannins and just enough freshness to carry the finish.

Wine
Turley Wine Cellars was founded in 1993 by Larry Turley and makes forty-seven wines, the vast majority of which are single vineyard designate Zinfandels and Petite Syrahs. By focusing on old vine vineyards in particular, Turley aims to both create and preserve California’s unique winemaking culture.
All of Turley’s vineyards are either certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers or somewhere in the process, and the winery uses all natural yeasts in the fermentations.
Turley aims to be stewards of some of California’s most distinctive vineyards, producing authentic wines that reflect their heritage.
