The flavors are densely fruit with creme de cassis persisting through the lingering finish. 15 months in barrel, 8 months bottle age. Produced from ancient vaso trained vineyards up to 110 years old, fermented in stainless steel tanks, and then aged 15 months in French oak barrels.

Tridente Tridente Old Vine Tempranillo Vineyards Winery Image
Bodegas Tridente is located in Villanueva de Campean (just south of Zamora) in the heart of the “Tierra del Vino” (Land of Wine). The area is characterized by a very dry continental climate (14-15 in rainfall/yr) with extremely cold winters and hot summers with up to 3,000 hours of sunshine. Our vineyards are made up of 40 small parcels of old-vine “Tinta de Toro”, or Tempranillo, which are planted in sandy soils in the traditional “vaso” (head-trained) system. All vineyards are dry-farmed without the use of pesticides or herbicides and are hand-harvested.

Spanish red wine is known for being bold, heady, rustic and age-worthy, Spain is truly a one-of-a-kind wine-producing nation. A great majority of the country is hot, arid and drought-ridden, and since irrigation has only been recently introduced and (controversially) accepted, viticulture has sustained—and flourished—only through a great understanding of Spain’s particular conditions. Large spacing between vines allows each enough resources to survive and as a result, the country has the most acreage under vine compared to any other country, but is usually third in production.

Of the Spanish red wines, the most planted and respected grape variety is Tempranillo, the star of Spain’s Rioja and Ribera del Duero regions. Priorat specializes in bold red blends, Jumilla has gained global recognition for its single varietal Monastrell and Utiel-Requena has garnered recent attention for its reds made of Bobal.
