Made from organically grown grapes, this malbec brims with notes of violets and soft red fruit. A nervous acidity makes it juicy and approachable while the flavors run deep and long.
The 2010 Natural is 100% Malbec made from organically grown grapes and aged for 12 months in French and American oak. It offers up an expressive nose of wood smoke, spice box, violets, tobacco, and black cherry. This is followed by an elegant, sweetly-fruited, forward wine that over-delivers in a big way. Drink this outstanding value over the next 5-6 years.
(made with organic grapes): Red-ruby. Pure, complex nose offers blackberry, blueberry, violet, licorice and a whiff of chocolatey oak. Ripe but juicy and firm, with harmonious acidity framing the dark berry, black cherry and saline flavors and keeping the wine's sweetness under wraps. Finishes with chewy, ripe, palate-dusting tannins and very good soil-driven length. Has the structure to age. A superb value.
There are few wine brands that reflect the sensibilities of their owner more than Tikal. A skilled horseman, fashion designer, software developer, and book editor, Ernesto pursues all that gives pleasure in life. This hedonism (in the best sense of the word) shows through in the wines. It is a style meant to provide enormous pleasure rather than provoke contemplation; an expression of emotion rather than intellect. He has named his wines with passion in mind: Patriota (Patriot), Corazon (Heart), Amorio (Love Affair), Jubilo (Rejoice).
Luis Reginato is the winemaker at Tikal as of the 2002 vintage. Luis is young, but is already a highly trained and respected vineyard consultant and winemaker with long experience at his family's winery in Mendoza. Truly an up and coming talent, Luis and his wines are already garnering high praise from U.S. wine critics. Definitely a winemaker to watch.
