    Winemaker Notes

Classic aromas of blackberry and plum are wrapped in toasted caramel and dark chocolate and mouth-filling tannins. This wine is elegant and supple.

A fun start or end to any meal or friendly gathering. Enjoy with grilled flank steak, beef short ribs, or portabella and grilled onion burgers as a vegetarian option.

    The Dreaming Tree Winery Video

An exciting collaboration between musician Dave Matthews and seasoned winemaker Sean McKenzie, The Dreaming Tree captures the spirit of California’s wine country. United by their shared passion to make quality wines accessible to everyone, the two friends set out on a journey to discover the unique characters and rich flavors that give the region its rare charm.

Most may know Dave Matthews from his day job as a professional musician, but his passion for winemaking stretches back nearly as far as his love for music. With a winery in Virginia under his belt, Dave is no amateur, but when he chose to lay down roots in the California wine country, he knew he couldn’t do it alone.

Winemaker Sean McKenzie has shared his diverse winemaking experience with The Dreaming Tree brand since 2014. Along the way, he has helped preserve many of California’s most prestigious growing regions and featured their respective styles throughout the Dreaming Tree’s stellar lineup of wines. Together with collaborator Dave Matthews, the duo have created wines that are approachable, balanced, and easy to drink. Consistent with Sean and Dave’s shared values of generosity and community, the wines are meant to be shared and enjoyed with all.

The Dreaming Tree Wines is based in Geyserville, CA and has received over 20 Gold Medals and 90+ Scores. As a sustainably driven brand, it has donated over $1.5 Million in proceeds to environmental conservation organizations around the world.

Covering the most vine acreage in the state compared to any other red wine variety, Cabernet Sauvignon produces as much wine in California as Merlot and Pinot noir combined. The state’s diverse terrain and microclimates, as well as the freedom of its winemakers, allow for an incredible range of wine styles from this single grape.

California’s most famous region—and especially for Cabernet Sauvignon—is the acclaimed Napa Valley. While Cabernet is successful throughout the world, rarely has it achieved such merit as it does from the Napa Valley. At this point the two are so intrinsically linked that it is difficult to discuss one without the other.

Napa’s closest neighbor, Sonoma County, does an impressive job keeping up with Napa’s fame and glory. Alexander Valley, Sonoma Mountain, Moon Mountain and Knights Valley contribute to the lot of some of California’s top-rated Cabernet Sauvignon.

Lake County in California’s North Coast has become a focus for some of Napa’s more respected growers. From the Central Coast come iconic examples of classic California Cabernet; Lodi and the Sierra Foothills are great budget-friendly sources of amicable Cabernets.
