COMMENTARY: One can search a lifetime in hunting down an excellent Cabernet value amongst Napa Valley producers. The Montagu Silver Ghost is a wine that fits this description. TASTING NOTES: This wine is packed with attractive black fruit and cocoa powder in its aromas and flavors. Pair it with a grilled ribeye topped with minced shallots. Smooth and approachable, this wine offers a tangy red-fruit flavor and bright acidity, with integrated oak and tannin. It is delightfully quaffable and finishes in layers of cedar and pencil shavings, remaining varietal and delicious through a steady finish. Editors’ Choice

Inspired by his family heritage of luxury innovation, Weston Eidson created Silver Ghost to be a full-bodied and richly expressive Cabernet Sauvignon crafted from some of Napa Valley’s finest vineyards. Weston combines lush valley-floor and high elevation fruit to deliver Silver Ghost's signature style. Since debuting with the 2012 vintage, Silver Ghost is now distributed in more than 30 states.
Weston named Silver Ghost in tribute to his great-grandfather, John Montagu, who helped pioneer the Silver Ghost Rolls Royce at the turn of the century. Prior to founding Silver Ghost, Weston studied wine in Europe, South Africa and Australia and Napa.
One of the most prestigious wines of the world capable of great power and grace, Napa Valley Cabernet is a leading force in the world of fine, famous, collectible red wine. Today the Napa Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon are so intrinsically linked that it is difficult to discuss one without the other. But it wasn’t until the 1970s that this marriage came to light; sudden international recognition rained upon Napa with the victory of the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon in the 1976 Judgement of Paris.
Cabernet Sauvignon undoubtedly dominates Napa Valley today, covering half of the land under vine, commanding the highest prices per ton and earning the most critical acclaim. Cabernet Sauvignon’s structure, acidity, capacity to thrive in multiple environs and ability to express nuances of vintage make it perfect for Napa Valley where incredible soil and geographical diversity are found and the climate is perfect for grape growing. Within the Napa Valley lie many smaller sub-AVAs that express specific characteristics based on situation, slope and soil—as a perfect example, Rutherford’s famous dust or Stags Leap District's tart cherry flavors.
