This wine is produced from a special loose clustered Chardonnay from the Hanzell field selection grown near the Russian River on our estate. Complex aromas of ripe fruit combine with floral notes with an element of roasted hazelnuts and a touch of mineral. The flavors are rich and full with pleasant acidity.

The 2016 Chardonnay South River Vineyard offers a wonderfully savory nose of warm bread, toasted almonds, yeast extract and cashew paste with a core of lemon meringue pie, warm peaches and pink grapefruit. Medium to full-bodied with wonderfully intense citrus layers and savory sparks, it finishes long and zesty.

The 2016 Chardonnay South River offers more lemon and floral aromas and flavors, and is medium-bodied, vibrant and lively on the palate, with a Grand Cru Chablis-like quality. Clean, balanced and impressively textured, it dances on the palate, has bright acidity, and a clean finish. It lacks some of the weight and richness found in the River Block but is a beautiful, singular Chardonnay.
