Somm Note

Winemaker Notes

Redolent of boysenberry and mineral on the nose that joins clove, forest floor, cola, subtle black pepper and toasty oak notes on the palate. Welcomed acidity lifts and extends the flavors through a long, silky finish.

Light and savory, with meaty, peppery overtones to the cherry and floral flavors, finishing gracefully. Has layers of complexity and terrific persistence. Best from 2018 through 2022.
  • 92
Rich and ripe with cherry and berry aromas. Full body, round and chewy tannins. More extracted than some from Oregon. Chewy finish. A year or two more of bottle age would soften it out. Drink in 2019.

COMMENTARY: The 2014 Maison l'Envoyé The Attaché Pinot Noir is a generous and well-balanced style from the Willamette Valley. TASTING NOTES: This wine satisfies from start to finish. Enjoy its attractive aromas and flavors of bright berries and black fruit with coq au vin. (Tasted: December 20, 2019, San Francisco, CA)

Maison L'Envoye Cote du Py Winery Image

Driven by a tireless hunt for elusive sites where Pinot Noir shines, Maison L'Envoyé traverses the globe with the intention of presenting the acme of regionality and winemaking styles. Originating in Burgundy, they pursued gilded terroir to craft this region's wine trinity: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Gamay Noir. Yet from this tenor of focus and commitment a global fellowship emerged, with terroir-driven Pinot Noir as the linchpin. Now, with winemaking footprints in Burgundy, Willamette Valley, Tasmania and Central Otago, Maison L'Envoyé champions many unsung growers who have farmed their vineyards for decades and generations, some mere feet away from more illustriously cited neighbors. This project has been a standout since its debut in 2011 including Wine & Spirits naming Maison L'Envoyé a 'Winery To Watch' in 2015.
