Heaven's Door Straight Rye Whiskey
2018 San Francisco World Spirits Competition Gold Medal Winner.
Breaking with tradition, this Straight Rye Whiskey is toasted in oak cigar barrels, and air-dried in the low-lying mountain region of Vosges, France. This results in a smoother, more approachable rye with notes of orange peel, coriander, and spice.
Critical AcclaimAll Vintages
This whiskey has a brilliant amber color with an orange core. The ambrosial nose expresses a nectar-like quality of summer peaches but also brings in headier notes of new leather and hazelnut. The purity on the palate is stunning at 92 proof, warming the mouth without bite or edge; instead, the lava flow of stone fruit, jasmine, and tobacco is lengthy and serene.
In an unusual twist for typically all-American rye, this Tennessee-made whiskey is finished in French oak barrels. The end result is brisk, spicy and mouth-watering, building clove, black pepper, cinnamon and lemon peel on a base of coconut, chamomile and cedar. Music-lovers take note: this brand was developed in collaboration with Bob Dylan.
Heaven’s Door is an award-winning collection of handcrafted American whiskeys developed in partnership with Bob Dylan. The perfect blend of art and craft, each bottle of Heaven’s Door showcases Bob Dylan’s distinctive welded iron gates that he created in his studio, Black Buffalo Ironworks.
Known for its peppery, spicy bite, Rye serves as the ideal base for cocktails like the Sazerac, Manhattan or Old Fashioned. In order for a spirit to be labeled an American Rye Whiskey, the mash bill must be comprised of at least 51% rye grain. The remainder of the mash is most often a combination of malted barley, wheat or corn. After distillation is complete, the spirit is transferred to unused, charred white oak barrels for a minimum of two years, though many producers choose to age longer.
