Winemaker Notes

Cool ocean breezes between the Sonoma Mountain and the Petaluma Wind Gap trap coastal fog just before harvest to ensure slow, and evenly ripened fruit. Oak-inspired spice with a soft yet lively acidity.

Blend: 100% Pinot Noir

Critical Acclaim

All Vintages
TP 93
Tasting Panel
Dark, ripe and juicy with deep black cherry, spice and vanilla; powerful yet elegant, long and rich.
WS 92
Wine Spectator
Tannic and slow to unfold, with a core of plum, cherry, raspberry and wilted rose scents. A touch of graphite and crushed rock weave in on the finish. Drink now through 2022.
WE 90
Wine Enthusiast
Within a statement-sized bottle, this heavy, lush and aromatic Pinot Noir from a great vineyard could ignite debates about California Pinot styles. Aged about a year in all French oak, 65% of it new, it reveals an expanse of dark cherry fruit, velvety texture and plenty of structure amidst a leathery core and lengthy finish.

Guarachi, Petaluma Gap, Sonoma Coast, Sonoma County, California
When Alex Guarachi came to the United States in the 1970s, he noticed that Chilean wine was not available. He vowed to change this and was one of the first importers to introduce South American wine to the American public. Twenty-five years of serving as the founder and president of TGIC Importers–the leading American importer of South American wine –Alex Guarachi decided bring the passion and spirit of his own cultural experience to your dinner table. Today, the Guarachi Family introduces you to the finest from their hearts and their homeland in California.

After a quarter century of tasting, judging and assisting in the production of wines for other wineries, Alex finally realized a lifelong dream of producing his own wines with the inaugural bottling of three Guarachi Family Wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. These bold, rich and stylish bottles come from prominent vineyards and appellations in Sonoma and Napa counties. The wines were created with the help of one of Alex's close friends: internationally-renowned winemaker, Paul Hobbs.
