Garofoli Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Podium 2016
The wine is golden yellow with greenish reflections. The bouquet is intense with aromas of ripe yellow fruit accompanied by elegant scents of citrus fruit combined with a note of honey. An ensemble of great complexity and persistence. The flavor is seductive and soft but with great character and strength, sapidity is extremely prolonged, warm and elegant; the fruity notes of the bouquet are reprised in the constantly evolving flavor.
This wine is a perfect accompaniment for an imposing and elaborate seafood dish.

The Garofoli family harvests this verdicchio from ten parcels that range in elevation from 1,000 to 1,800 feet. They vinify each separately, aging the wine on the lees for a year in large underground concrete tanks. In the cool 2016 vintage, the wine is creamy and delicate, with scents of lime blossoms and sea breezes. Lively saline notes underline the crisp apple and pear flavors, as well as the wine’s pleasant almond bitterness.
Stretching along Italy’s eastern coast with neighbors, Umbria to its west and Abruzzo to its south, Marche is a region with a varying climate from north to south. Its coastal plains roll into hills that become the Apennine Mountains, which run the length of the country. The Marche's best red wines come from the grapes, Montepulciano and Sangiovese; the local Verdicchio makes refreshing, crisp and light whites.
