Foursquare 12 Year Mark X Single Blended Rum 2007
At Prohibition’s outset in January 1920, gentleman rum runner Bill McCoy was the first to fill a boat with rum, sail up the U.S. east coast and act as a floating liquor store – legally – because he stayed three miles offshore in international waters. McCoy lived by a code of honor – insisting on delivering only unadulterated spirits. Other rum-runners added water or chemicals like turpentine to their alcohol to make nasty “hooch” or “rot gut” but McCoy’s was always uncut top quality and became worldwide as “The Real McCoy”. In 2008, Founder Bailey Pryor researched & produced a 5-Emmy award-winning documentary about Bill McCoy and was inspired to start a rum company following Bill McCoy’s ethics & authenticity. Bailey found a true partner in & ISC Rum Producer of the Year 2016-18 and 4th generation Master Distiller Richard Seale of Foursquare Distillery. Richard crafts rum sustainably with zero-waste, fair wages and in the Barbados GI tradition --true Caribbean aging and no added sugar, flavors, artificial color, chemicals or preservatives. The partnership resulted in The Real McCoy Rum – a copper pot distilled, bourbon barrel aged single estate blend of distillates or Single Blended Rum.
Often referred to as a Gold Rum, an Aged Rum is one that has been aged in white oak barrels before bottling. As the Rum continues to age, it draws more and more color and flavor from the wood, adding both body and complexity to the finished product. Aged Rums can be sipped neat or added to cocktails. They fall somewhere in between White and Dark Rums in terms of their respective strength of flavor.
