Winemaker Notes

The 2004 has aromas of blackberry, black currant, cedar and anise. This wine is delightfully balanced and complex with a juicy mid palate, velvety tannins and a black cherry finish. After time in the glass, the wine opens up to chocolate, coffee, cocoa.

Firm and intense, with a mix of herb, dill, cedar and dried currant flavors that are taut and dusty, ending with a tight focus, layers of complexity and good length. Needs time. Best from 2009 through 2014. 1,750 cases made.

The Coach Insignia Cabernet is usually blended with a small amount of Cabernet Franc or Merlot. The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Coach Insignia is softer and more up-front than the 2005 with oodles of black and red fruits intermixed with crushed rocks, flowers, and subtle spicy wood. The overall impression is one of elegance yet authoritative flavors. Drink it over the next 10-12 years.

Fisher Vineyards Winery Image
Founded in 1973 by Fred and Juelle Fisher, the winery is nestled at the 1500-foot elevation on the western face of the Mayacamas Mountains between the Napa and Sonoma Valleys and home to their Wedding Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon and Whitney's Vineyard Chardonnay. Their Coach Insignia Cabernet, Lamb Vineyard Cabernet and RCF Vineyard Merlot come from their estate on the Silverado Trail in the Napa Valley. It is from these two sites that the winery strives to fulfill their mission of producing world class Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

One of the most prestigious wines of the world capable of great power and grace, Napa Valley Cabernet is a leading force in the world of fine, famous, collectible red wine. Today the Napa Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon are so intrinsically linked that it is difficult to discuss one without the other. But it wasn’t until the 1970s that this marriage came to light; sudden international recognition rained upon Napa with the victory of the Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon in the 1976 Judgement of Paris.

Cabernet Sauvignon undoubtedly dominates Napa Valley today, covering half of the land under vine, commanding the highest prices per ton and earning the most critical acclaim. Cabernet Sauvignon’s structure, acidity, capacity to thrive in multiple environs and ability to express nuances of vintage make it perfect for Napa Valley where incredible soil and geographical diversity are found and the climate is perfect for grape growing. Within the Napa Valley lie many smaller sub-AVAs that express specific characteristics based on situation, slope and soil—as a perfect example, Rutherford’s famous dust or Stags Leap District's tart cherry flavors.
