    Winemaker Notes

Our TreMonte Merlot is a complex, multi-dimensional wine with layered flavor components and a richness seldom found in Merlot. The shallow, rocky soils of our mountain vineyards are well suited to this Bordeaux variety, yielding only three-and-a-half tons per acre. The vines were planted on an east-facing slope at an elevation of 12,000 feet. This site provides a longer -than-usual growing season with extended hang time to ensure maximum fruit ripeness at harves time. Smooth and velvety in the mouth, this densely-colored wine balances rich concentrated fruit with supple, well-rounded tannins. French oak barrel aging adds its hint of spicy cinnamon and nutmeg undertones.
