: Great with red meats and game. It is also perfect with dark chocolate and in a contemplating environment, such as whilst enjoying a cigar.

I love the currant and rosemary character of this wine. Some sage, too. Complex aromas that draw you in. Full body, extremely tight and chewy with a long and intense finish. The tannins are fantastic – so polished. Focused and beautiful. Mineral undertone with ash and hot stone highlighting the dark fruits. It goes on for minutes. Needs three or four years to come together. But a serious red all the way.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2015 Saffredi is a sultry and velvety wine from the Tuscan Coast. The blend is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot that sees 18 months in new and neutral oak. The textural richness is of the highest caliber, and the bouquet produces a long succession of black fruit, exotic spice and savory tobacco flavors. There's a touch of mocha chocolate and toasted espresso bean as well. The wine delivers great length and power. It promises not only to age but to improve as it spends more years in the cellar. Some 30,000 bottles are made.

Decanter
The spring and summer were worryingly dry, but some rain in August was timely, helping the grapes to ripen fully. The nose is gorgeous, with a lush oakiness and some welcome red fruits. The attack is rich and ripe, marrying immense concentration with good acidity. Despite ageing in 80% new barriques, the oak is not too evident. It's a bit monolithic now but also stylish and persistent, lifted and intense. Long, with great ageing potential. Wine Spectator
An enticing combination of black currant, plum, licorice, iron and tobacco aromas and flavors hits all the right notes. Firms up, showing density and a juicy texture before playing out gracefully on the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2020 through 2028.

The operating nucleus of the property, from early 2000, is in proximity of Istia d'Ombrone, nearby Grosseto. The property is an antique farmhouse and its silhouette is present in some of the most recognizable wine labels of Le Pupille, the whole winery is surrounded by a 12 hectares vineyard, including a small patch destined to an experimentation of old Sangiovese grapes, coming from ancient vine rows. At first it is difficult to imagine that this large, quiet house is the beating heart of an agricultural activity, it rather seems like a noble residency surrounded by a large english style lawn and a myriad of flowers. Then the smell of must reveals the presence of a winery hidden by ivy, and once one enters the well-finished environment, the offices and tasting room appear like a succession of drawing rooms that the house owner has made to be warm and welcoming.
Legendary in Italy for its Renaissance art and striking landscape, Tuscany is also home to many of the country’s best red wines. Sangiovese reigns supreme here, as either the single varietal, or a dominant player, in almost all of Tuscany’s best.
A remarkable Chianti, named for its region of origin, will have a bright acidity, supple tannins and plenty of cherry fruit character. From the hills and valleys surrounding the medieval village of Montalcino, come the distinguished and age-worthy wines based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Earning global acclaim since the 1970s, the Tuscan Blends are composed solely of international grape varieties or a mix of international and Sangiovese. The wine called Vine Nobile di Montepulciano, composed of Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and is recognized both for finesse and power.
