Winemaker Notes

Blend: 75% Grenache, 25% Syrah. Clearly a wine from a warm place, with its amber hues and richness of texture. The nose is reminiscent of morello cherries, flowers and licorice. On the palate it shows an unctuous texture and is rich and concentrated. This is a fine bottle from a great terroir. It will go perfectly with beef, lamb and dishes containing black truffles.

Wine & Spirits
From a 27-acre vineyard of 50-year-old grenache and syrah vines, this is tight and elegant, its cherry-raspberry flavors kept taut with bright acidity and mouthwatering herbal notes. It's delicious now with steak frites and should age well for another five to seven years.
WS 91
Wine Spectator
Very racy, with lots of red and black currant fruit backed by a great graphite spine. Offers nice hints of licorice, spice and iron on the finish. Drink now through 2012.

Famille Perrin Overlooking the Vineyards at Beaucastel Winery Image

Jean-Pierre, François and Pierre Perrin are proud to present their fine wines, inspired by the memory of their grandfather, Pierre Perrin. Using the same techniques employed at Chateau de Beaucastel, the Perrins have added some interesting appellations to their already impressive list of wines.

"Jean-Pierre and François Perrin - chosen among the Most Influential Wine Personalities of the last 20 Years. The Perrins believe in natural winemaking, unfiltered wines, and routinely produce long-lived classics that are among the finest in the world." -Robert M. Parker, Jr's The Wine Advocate

This charming appellation within the Côtes du Rhône Villages was second only to Gigondas to earn its own village appellation status. Its wines may be red, rosé or white—though hardly any is white. Its high winemaking standards follow many of the same rules as Chateauneuf-du-Pape. But for Vacqueyras red wines, half of the grapes have to be Grenache and the remainder is usually a combination of Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault.

While they can be robust and rustic in style, typically a great Vacqueyras red combines delicate aromas with intense fruit and a bright, crisp texture. They certainly don’t lack any character and show an abundance of black cherry, wild berry, plum, fig, baking spice, and a touch of game or smoke.
