A bold, rich, massive expression of exuberant Cabernet, with layers of concentrated currant, blackberry, spice and wild berry flavors that offer a mix of power and finesse, easing up a bit on the finish, where the tannins are ripe and firm.

Connoisseurs' Guide
The deepest, best balanced of the Duckhorn brood, this one has the curranty focus of topnotch Napa Valley Cabernet as well as plenty of richness and nuances of rooty, loamy earth, caramel, crème brulee and pencil lead. It is supple and somewhat fleshy in mouthfeel with evident astringency rising at the end to lend a needed bit of grip while assuring that the wine has the structure to age well for a decade or more if that is your wont. It is hardly "gentle" yet, it earns kudos within its own flock for its mannerly approach and potential for growth.

Wine Enthusiast
The most immediately drinkable of Duckhorn's '01s. It’s soft and juicy, with smooth tannins and accessible flavors of cassis-infused cocoa and spices, with good lift from acidity.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is also just beginning to strut its stuff at age ten. Smooth tannins, a dense purple color and copious quantities of cedarwood, creme de cassis, licorice and lead pencil shavings are found in this full-bodied, concentrated wine along with impressive purity, a smoky earthiness and a long finish.

Founded by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn in 1976, Duckhorn Vineyards has been crafting classic Napa Valley wines for nearly 40 years. This winemaking tradition has grown to include seven meticulously farmed Estate vineyards, located throughout the various microclimates of the Napa Valley. Focused on quality and consistency, these Estate vineyards are an essential element in making wines of distinction. Pioneering and perfecting Merlot as a premium varietal, Duckhorn Vineyards now makes several elegant Merlot and distinctive Cabernet Sauvignon bottlings that showcase its premium vineyard sites. Duckhorn Vineyards has been named one of the “Top 100 Wineries” in the world eight times by Wine & Spirits, and the 2014 Duckhorn Vineyards Napa Valley Merlot Three Palms Vineyard was named the “2017 Wine of the Year,” topping Wine Spectator’s annual list of the world’s “Top 100 Wines.”
