Winemaker Notes

Critical Acclaim

BH 92

This is also notably ripe with an expressive and well-layered nose that features notes of essence of cassis, earth, leather and spice nuances plus a mildly curious hint of apricot. There is outstanding concentration to the big-bodied and intense flavors that also are shaped by phenolically mature tannins before ending in a suave, mouth coating and velvety finish. This is full-on and very serious and will need a very long snooze in a cool cellar before it will reach its full majority. Barrel Sample: 90-92

WS 90
Wine Spectator

This is full of chocolate, spice, earth and black cherry aromas and flavors, all backed by juicy acidity and burly tannins. Meaty and dense on the finish. Best from 2018 through 2030. 100 cases imported.

Domaine de Courcel
The Courcels have been producing wine for 400 years! With the death of Mademoiselle de Courcel, the estate has passed into the capable hands of her nephew, Giles. In 1996, the Domaine appointed winemaker Yves Confuron. Yves Confuron has transformed this already great domaine, to greater heights. The vats, vertical press and cellars produce Pommard in a very traditional fashion. De Courcel is regarded as one of the very finest producers of Pommard.
