Winemaker Notes

The Estate Chardonnay originates from Dehlinger's eight acres of Chardonnay vines planted between 1975 and 1988. These old vines, grown in the region's classic goldridge series soils, are grafted to the California heritage "Wente" clone, which produces small clusters and berries and has a notable minerality and almost oily viscosity. Dehlinger has been bottling its Chardonnays "Unfiltered" since the late 1990s in order to capture the full flavor potential and most pleasing texture possible.

Wine Spectator
A graceful, elegant style that impresses with nuance and finesse, offering subtle smoky, toasty oak and leesy, yeasty notes that add dimension to the fig and apricot flavors. Drink now. 1,100 cases made.

Dehlinger, Russian River, Sonoma County, California
The Dehlinger vineyard, family operated since 1975, comprises 45 acres of rolling hillside vines on a mixture of Goldridge and Altamont soils in Sonoma County's Russian River Valley. A landmark Octagon House, also dating from 1975, stands atop a hill near the entrance to the property. Varietals grown and produced are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, with a combined annual volume averaging 7000 cases. The winery is owned by winemaker Tom Dehlinger and his wife, Carole, who live together on the property. Two of their four children, Carmen and Eva, have been involved full-time with the operation since 2008.
