Cynar 70, as a high proof version of Cynar, has much the same flavor profile. While both are created from artichoke they do not tatse like artichoke, its flavor is enriched by an infusion of 13 herbs and plants. Cynar has lots of herbal flavors with dried fruit notes blending together to create a rather bitter finish. rounded by caramel smoothness.

      Cynar, Italy
Cynar is an artichoke based bittersweet liqueur known for its versatility and distinctive flavor. The name of the drink derives from Cynar scolymus, the botanical name for artichoke, as artichoke leaves lend the distinctive flavour. The secret recipe, which has remained the same since its creation, is based on some of the natural substances found in the artichokes, including ‘cynarine’. Created by Angelo Dalle Molle, a Venetian entrepreneur and philanthropist, Cynar was launched in Italy in 1952. Since then, the brand has grown and is now distributed internationally.

First prepared by 13th century Italian monks as herbal medicines and elixirs, Liqueurs are distilled spirits that have been combined with flavoring agents. A range of herbs, spices, nuts, fruits and flowers can be used, and a sweetener such as sugar or corn syrup is often added. While typically rather sweet, some examples are herbaceous or tart and pair exceptionally well with desserts or act as a delightful addition to cocktails.
