Wine Enthusiast
Very gold in color, this is a wine that seems initially closed, tight, only slowly showing its full panoply of richness, density and sweet final acidity.
Barrel Sample: 95-97 Points -
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
There is some SO2 masking the nose here, which is difficult to assess. However, the palate is well balanced with fine minerality, bright citrus fruit, orange zest, a touch of white peach and apricot, good tension towards the finish with a dash of lemongrass on the aftertaste. There is very good weight and botrytis on this Lafaurie Peyraguey that linger seductively.
Barrel Sample: 92-94 Points -
Wine Spectator
A more powerful style, with toasted coconut, almond and orange peel notes up front, followed by a dense core of creamed peach, glazed apricot and ginger, with a date-tinged finish. This should unwind soon enough while staying on the darker, tropical side of the spectrum. Best from 2015 through 2030. 4,631 cases made.

James Suckling
Aromas and flavors of cider, honey, lemon and hints of pie crust and caramel. Medium-to-full body, medium sweet and a fresh finish. Racy and refined. Elegant style for Lafaurie.

In the heart of the Sauternes country, Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a striking appearance, rising out of this gently rolling countryside. The walls surrounding it give it a Hispano-Byzantine look. Its XIIIth century gateway and castle towers, along with the main building rebuilt in the XVIIth century, are tangible proof of its age. Mr Lafaurie purchased it during the Revolution, in 1794, and his outstanding knowledge of things of the earth brought the vineyard immediate renown, which was carried on by Mr D. Cordier who became owner in 1917. It is rightly described as having the extravagance of perfection.
