Intense, with plenty of flint, dried herbs, dried lemons, guava and a smoky touch. Medium-to full-bodied with bright acidity. Concentrated, yet vivid and energetic. Tangy. So delicious. 85% sauvignon blanc and 15% semillon. Barrel Sample: 93-94

I loved the 2021 Pagodes De Cos Blanc, a white well worth grabbing ahold of. White grapefruits, citrus, tons of salty minerality, and some minty herb notes all emerge on the nose, and it's pure, crisp, and vibrant on the palate. It's a second wine, but it certainly doesn't taste like it.

The 2021 Pagodes de Cos Blanc unwinds in the glass to exhibit notions of crisp citrus and orchard fruit mingled with hints of gooseberries and pastry cream. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless, it's taut and concentrated, concluding with a saline finish.

Grape typicity on the nose, vanilla bean, lemon grass and orange - juicy and lively, so fresh. It’s light but poised, not massive in terms of weight or fat, this is streamlined and succulent but direct, there’s no messing around here. Sharp and direct with crushed stone lingering while the lemon, bitter grapefruit and creamy apricot settle on the tongue. Racy, I like it. Drinking Window: 2022 - 2030.

Chateau Cos d'Estournel, France
Chateau Cos d'Estournel Winery Video
Chateau Cos d'Estournel is a Grand Cru vineyard located in St. Estephe. Its oriental facade is adorned with three pagoda turrets, all cast in a soft golden sandstone. Chateau Cos d'Estournel today covers 170 acres separated from Chateau Lafite, along the southern edge, by the stream between St. Estephe and Pauillac. The gravelly soil, over a flint, limestone and silicate subsoil low in nitrogen, has eroded over centuries to form steep ridges which perfectly drain the vineyards. The vineyards are planted 60 percent in Cabernet Sauvignon vines, 2 percent of Cabernet Franc, and 38 percent in Merlot. Naturally, the percentage of Cabernet or Merlot in the composition of each vintage depends on the climate which favors one grape variety or the other.
