Winemaker Notes

Château Beaumont 2019 is characterized by roundness, harmony and fruitiness. The merlots give a lovely fruitiness and some sweetness, while the Cabernets Sauvignons bring concentration and the Petit Verdot a spicy touch.
Blend: 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot
The Barrel Sample for this wine is under 14% ABV.

*Please note that the price on Wine.com of this 2019 Bordeaux Future does not include any tariffs. As of June 2020, there remains a 25% tariff imposed on French wines at or below 14% Alcohol-by-Volume by the U.S. and approved by the World Trade Organization related to the Airbus/Boeing dispute. We are hopeful that this is a short-term tariff which will not be in place when the wine is ready to be imported into the U.S., as Bordeaux Futures typically ship 2-years after they are offered. Should tariffs still be in effect when the wine is ready to be imported, we will contact affected customers with an update to our plans and timing.

Vinous
The 2019 Beaumont impresses on the nose with intense blackberry and briary aromas, sous-bois and tobacco, all whilst maintaining its delineation. The palate is supple and silky on the entry. There is well judged acidity, plenty of cedar and seaweed, tinged black fruit and a spicy finish. Now, this is a bloody great Beaumont. -- Neal Martin

Wine Enthusiast
This estate has produced a fine, elegant wine. Black fruits and a hint of chocolate do not detract from the firm structure that is a fine passport for the future. Dense, dry but never excessive, this is a wine for medium-term.

A firm, silky red with currant, mushroom and chocolate character and some bark. It’s full-bodied. Savory. Barrel Sample: 90-91

Decanter
Carefully extracted and well-balanced cassis fruits with attractive dark pepper and rosemary spices running through the palate. This has tons of Médoc signature, controlled tannins and fresh acidities, earthy touches stop it feeling overly polished.

This estate continues to make a delicious, nicely balanced wine. The 2019 Château Beaumont has lots of red and black currant fruits, plenty of spice, leather, and tobacco notes, medium-bodied richness, and a rounded, already hard to resist style on the palate. It's going to drink nicely for a solid decade.

Barrel Sample: 88-90

RP 90
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Casting a deep garnet-purple color, the 2019 Beaumont takes its time to reveal subtle notes of baked plums, blackcurrant pastilles and fruit cake with suggestions of damp soil, cardamom and fried herbs. The medium-bodied palate has a solid backbone of firm, chewy tannins and lively acidity supporting the black fruit preserves flavors, finishing with an herbal lift.
Barrel Sample:88-90+

Chateau Beaumont, France
Chateau Beaumont Winery Image
Winegrowing in Chateau Beaumont dates back to 1824. The present chateau, a pure jewel of Mansart-style architecture, was built in 1854. Its exotic history includes an unusual collection of characters: a Brenton aristocrat, a Honduran minister, a Parisian industrialist, a lieutenant-colonel from Caracas, a Venezuelan senator, etc. - twelve different owners who ensured that Beaumont was enjoyed around the world.

Currently ownded by Grands Millesimes de France, Chateau Beaumont produces elegant, concentrated, well-balanced wine with beautiful color, extreme finesse, an exquisite bouquet, and a silky texture.

Committed to sustainable viticulture for several years, Chateau Beaumont obtained certification to this effect from the Terra Vitis organization in 2004 after conforming to a set of stringent specifications.

While it claims the same basic landscape as the Medoc—only every so slightly elevated above river level—the Haut Medoc is home to all of the magnificent chateaux of the Left Bank of Bordeaux, creating no lack of beautiful sites to see.

These chateaux, residing over the classed-growth cru in the villages of Margaux, Moulis, Listrac, St-Julien, Pauillac and St. Estephe are within the Haut Medoc appellation. Though within the confines of these villages, any classed-growth chateaux will most certainly claim village or cru status on their wine labels.

Interestingly, some classed-growth cru of the Haut Medoc fall outside of these more famous villages and can certainly be a source of some of the best values in Bordeaux. Deep in color, and concentrated in ripe fruit and tannins, these wines (typically Cabernet Sauvignon-based) often prove the same aging potential of the village classed-growths. Among these, the highest ranked chateaux are Chateau La Lagune and Chateau Cantemerle.

One of the world’s most classic and popular styles of red wine, Bordeaux-inspired blends have spread from their homeland in France to nearly every corner of the New World. Typically based on either Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot and supported by Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot, the best of these are densely hued, fragrant, full of fruit and boast a structure that begs for cellar time. Somm Secret—Blends from Bordeaux are generally earthier compared to those from the New World, which tend to be fruit-dominant.
