Castello della Paneretta Vin Santo (half-bottle) 1996

The color is a rich tawny gold with brassy gold highlights. The bouquet is intense as it begins with dried fruit, especially dates and figs, evolves to citrus zest and finishes with a hint of almonds. On the palate it is extremely rich, smooth and languid with a pleasing sweetness filling the mouth with layers of honeyed dried fruit flavors. The finish is clean and delightfully long with almond-laced fruitiness that leaves the lips buttery. Crisply youthful, this marvelous wine will age in the bottle for many, many years and continue to manifest complexities to dazzle ones palate.
