    Winemaker Notes

A Super Tuscan with great personality and elegance. The grapes are selected in the vineyards of Cagliano and Vittoria, which have optimal characteristics of soil, exposure and microclimate for the cultivation of the vines that make up the wine. Of an intense red color, almost impenetrable, it has a broad, refined, persuasive perfume, with olfactory sensations of leather and tobacco. The flavor, of extraordinary structure, is harmonious and surprisingly soft. Its name, Borgonero, recalls an ancient agricultural settlement in the Borgo Scopeto area.

Borgo Scopeto is an old and well-established estate producer of Chianti Classico.

It is a true borgo - a hamlet with its own church, post office, town center, and residences. Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini owns Borgo Scopeto, along with Altesino, Caparzo, and Doga delle Clavule, and she and winemaker Massimo Bracalente are responsible for all aspects of the production of Borgo Scopeto wines. The first bottle of Chianti Classico with the Borgo Scopeto label dates back to 1990.

Legendary in Italy for its Renaissance art and striking landscape, Tuscany is also home to many of the country’s best red wines. Sangiovese reigns supreme here, as either the single varietal, or a dominant player, in almost all of Tuscany’s best.

A remarkable Chianti, named for its region of origin, will have a bright acidity, supple tannins and plenty of cherry fruit character. From the hills and valleys surrounding the medieval village of Montalcino, come the distinguished and age-worthy wines based on Brunello (Sangiovese). Earning global acclaim since the 1970s, the Tuscan Blends are composed solely of international grape varieties or a mix of international and Sangiovese. The wine called Vine Nobile di Montepulciano, composed of Prognolo Gentile (Sangiovese) and is recognized both for finesse and power.
