Bodegas Hijos de Juan Gil Juan Gil 2012
Bodegas Juan Gil was founded in 1916 by Juan Gil Gimenez. Over five generations, the winery has been consolidated and improved, applying technological advancements to the traditional knowledge passed down through the years. Jumilla, along the southern Mediterranean, is the kingdom of Monastrell; the vines are between 40 and 100 years old with very low yields (approximately. 2,500 kg/ha) planted in chalky, stony, poor soils. The vineyards, which are located at an altitude of 2,000 feet, are all dry farmed without the use of pesticides or herbicides and are harvested by hand.
Jumilla is a region with an extreme climate of hot, dry summers followed by long cold winters. The diurnal temperature shift is great and little to no rain falls during the growing season. These harsh conditions lead to wines with great structure and intense color and aromas.
