Winemaker Notes
The grapes were dried until January, then pressed, macerated and fermented for almost 30 days, then aged in tonneaux for 30 months. In 2012, Jancis Robinson included Monte Santoccio’s Amarone della Valpolicella as one of the “Top 100 red wines of the year.”
Blend: 40% Corvina, 30% Corvinone, 25% Rondinella, 5% Molinara

James Suckling
A more dialed-back but wonderfully delicious nose for an Amarone that's focused on minerals, blue fruit, slate and plenty of fresh herbs. Full body, very structured tannins and a chewy finish. A beautiful example of a more reserved, tight and focused style of Amarone.
Located in Fumane, Monte Santoccio, at just more than 3 hectares, lies in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico appellation. Nicola Ferrari, winemaker, was 26 years old when he started working for Giuseppe Quintarelli, one of the region’s most respected winemakers. While there, he learned the importance of exercising control over the whole production process as a means to guarantee quality, especially by owning one’s own vineyards and vinifying one’s own grapes. Monte Santoccio prides itself on the fact that the winery owns the vineyards that produce the grapes for its wines. Everything is organized so as to obtain maximum quality. The domaine’s philosophy is to produce high quality, traditional wines, offering the best possible value for money.
