Winemaker Notes

Just releasing now, the new 2016 Right Bank is an absolutely smashing blend of 56% Cabernet Franc, and the balance in Merlot from our estate. Powerful bright red and black fruits, with a fresh cedar plank, spice and snappy mineral tinged berry flavors. Tight right now, but opens with aeration. This is a real triumph for us, and one of the best Right Banks in a long while.

RP 94
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2016 Right Bank Proprietary Red Wine is composed of 56% Cabernet Franc and 44% Merlot. Deep purple-black in color, it comes leaping out of the glass with bold blackberry, warm plums and black cherries scents complimented by hints of chargrill, tar and cedar chest. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the mouth with soft-textured black fruits, finishing on a lingering peppery note.
V 92
Vinous
The 2016 Right Bank is delicate and nicely lifted, with pretty aromatic and spice overtones to play off the dark fruit. Gracious and understated, the 2016 is one of the more finessed editions of this wine I can remember tasting. Time in the glass brings out a measure of depth, but the 2016 comes across as on the lighter side of things relative to the other wines in the range.

Anderson's Conn Valley Vineyards Winery Video
Anderson's Conn Valley Vineyards are located just east of St. Helena in the Napa Valley where Conn Creek flows out of Howell Mountain. Twenty-six acres of vineyards, divided into nine blocks, along with a fifteen acre-foot reservoir are the heart of this 40-acre grape-growing paradise.

Separated from the Napa Valley floor by a north/south running ridge, the world-renowned wineries of Joseph Heitz and Joseph Phelps are located on the west side of this ridge and the Anderson's Estate Vineyards are on the east side at a perfect elevation of 400 feet.

The vineyards not only enjoy Napa Valley's superb microclimate, but share the same Bale Loam Series as are found on the famous Rutherford Bench. This combination of clay-loam soil and microclimate produces up to 106 tons of exceptional fruit each year. One from which a world-class Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux-style blend, called Éloge, can be artfully handcrafted.

Undoubtedly proving its merit over and over, Napa Valley is a now a leading force in the world of prestigious red wine regions. Though Cabernet Sauvignon dominates Napa Valley, other red varieties certainly thrive here. Important but often overlooked include Merlot and other Bordeaux varieties well-regarded on their own as well as for their blending capacities. Very old vine Zinfandel represents an important historical stronghold for the region and Pinot noir is produced in the cooler southern parts, close to the San Pablo Bay.

Perfectly situated running north to south, the valley acts as a corridor, pulling cool, moist air up from the San Pablo Bay in the evenings during the hot days of the growing season, which leads to even and slow grape ripening. Furthermore the valley claims over 100 soil variations including layers of volcanic, gravel, sand and silt—a combination excellent for world-class red wine production.
