Winemaker Notes

This inaugural vintage of the Alamos Red Blend offers a unique combination of Argentine traditions with its Malbec base and layers of Bonarda. Dark berry fruit flavors are framed by brown spice and vanilla oak characters. Tempranillo grapes give this wine a unique earthy character while Syrah, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon add structure.

Blend: 40% Malbec, 18% Tempranillo, 14% Bonarda, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot, 7% Syrah

W&S 90
Wine & Spirits

The depth of flavor in this wine offers sweet fruit that’s rich rather than excessive in its ripeness, the texture seductive. It’s a voluptuous red for lamb chops.

Alamos
From the vineyard to the winery, the Alamos wines are made to emphasize varietal fruit character. The cool evening temperatures in Catena's high altitude vineyards allow for prolonged hang time, preserving the fruit's full spectrum of aromas and flavors.

At the winery, the grapes are gently destemmed, fermentation temperatures are carefully controlled and two to four year old barrels are used to age the wines.
