    Winemaker Notes

The 2016 Cabernet Franc is a combination of the Titus Estate Vineyard and Sugarloaf Mtn vineyard in South Napa. The combination of slightly cooler climate Cabernet Franc from Sugarloaf and the Titus Cabernet Franc makes for an exciting blend of Cab Franc characteristics, combining the power of St Helena and the grace and floral notes of South Napa. The aromas present here are bright and perfumed, with hints of cherry, red currant, Mexican chocolate and dried basil. That sweet and savory nose is followed up on the palate with a tasty combination of dried cranberries, pomegranate, plum sauce, cardamom and vermouth. Elegance lingers on the palate, while tannins fill the mouth and drive the finish. Settle in with this wine as you enjoy salmon, roast chicken or leg of lamb. Enjoy through 2028.

Blend: 79.5% Cabernet Franc, 10.5% Cabernet Sauvignon

Undoubtedly proving its merit over and over, Napa Valley is a now a leading force in the world of prestigious red wine regions. Though Cabernet Sauvignon dominates Napa Valley, other red varieties certainly thrive here. Important but often overlooked include Merlot and other Bordeaux varieties well-regarded on their own as well as for their blending capacities. Very old vine Zinfandel represents an important historical stronghold for the region and Pinot noir is produced in the cooler southern parts, close to the San Pablo Bay.

Perfectly situated running north to south, the valley acts as a corridor, pulling cool, moist air up from the San Pablo Bay in the evenings during the hot days of the growing season, which leads to even and slow grape ripening. Furthermore the valley claims over 100 soil variations including layers of volcanic, gravel, sand and silt—a combination excellent for world-class red wine production.
